Here is my Marcy CL202 Cycle Exercise Bike Review – A static spinner that is a really inexpensive way to get fit.

Although I’ve gone on record that I’m a York Fitness type of guy, I must admit to having a soft spot for anything Marcy, and at the time of writing this, Amazon have some great offers on Marcy exercise cycles with the Marcy CL202 currently being offered at under £70 with free shipping – a 53% discount!

So why do I like the Marcy gym equipment? And why have I decided to put together an Marcy CL202 exercise bike review to single out one Marcy machine?

An American company, Marcy as a brand came about, when an American bodybuilder, Jack Marcyan, began to manufacture some of the first static exercise machines for weightlifters. In 1959 he invented the “Master Gym” – a static exercise station that quickly began to gain popularity with bodybuilders and athletes.

If you have ever used a static exercise machine in a gym or health club (you know the ones, with four different seats around one exercise ‘island’) a pound to a penny they are either a Marcy or a Marcy copy.

With great foresight, and long before the fitness boom of the 80’s, Jack opened 7 “Health and Development” clubs stocked with his own specialist gear, and his equipment found real fame when his static gym equipment was used exclusively by Bruce Lee prior to making his first film ‘Enter the Dragon.’

Marcy gym equipment really took off then, and at the moment his range of exercise bikes are being sold on the internet at very attractive prices, far less than you can get them for on the high street, This is the cheapest deal I could find for you and was why I put together this Marcy CL202 exercise bike review ….it has all the features you need, and more for only a small outlay.

Marcy like to call this their entry level spinner for beginners and intermediate users, it is an ultra compact magnetic exercise cycle with features found on other makes of exercise cycle three times the price.

I’ve researched this Marcy CL202 exercise bike review to ensure you get a really good product, at the right price, if you are looking for a well built exercise cycle on a budget

….and like I said at the beginning of the review I think this is real time value for money.

Compared to the York 101 (which is in direct competition with the CL202 – but at over twice the price) the Marcy CL202 Cycle has

• 8 Levels of magnetic resistance – the same as the York.
• A 4kg aluminium flywheel which is totally enclosed for safety – a little less than the York, but that little less weight makes for quieter spinning.
• A smaller footprint than the York – the height of the wheel housing is a lot smaller.
• Self levelling pedals with toestraps (not standard on the York).
• Small, built in transporter wheels to enable you to move it from place to place without fuss.

• A big, bright, battery operated LCD console which gives you:
• The Total Distance Covered.
• Time duration of your workout.
• The average Speed you maintained during your workout.
• An estimated of the Calories you’ve burned.
• An ongoing display of your pulse throughout your workout (via the handlebar sensors).

The hand sensors that you can see in the illustration above (plus the actual lcd display itself) are battery operated, so there are no wires running from a plug socket across your exercise area, and it hasn’t got an on/off switch – it switches itself off after four minutes of you stopping your session.

Marcy are clearly aiming the CL202 at the newcomer to home fitness,, but I think they do this bike a disservice – it’s fully featured and an absolute bargain at this price- with free P&P too!
